The Toyota Matrix - A New Car Era in Style and Performance

The Toyota Matrix is undoubtedly the new baby on the block that has won the attention of various demographics. Its marketing is geared toward the younger clientele, but people of all persuasions are being drawn to it. It is practical, roomy, good-looking and gives astounding fuel efficiency.
Exterior
The current version of the Toyota Matrix is a tasteful mix of hatchback and wagon style of chassis, and comes equipped with the following features:
Integrated fog lamps
Sport front and rear bumpers
16 inch steel wheels with wheel covers
Intermittent rear window wiper
Color-keyed outside door handles
Optional 17 inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels
Engine and Performance
A 1.8 liter four cylinder engine gives you a maximum power of 132 horsepower. However, if you decide to upgrade to the Matrix S, you'll get a 2.4 liter engine that cranks out 158 horsepower and 162 pounds per foot of torque.
As for fuel efficiency, you can expect 26/32 mpg city/highway for the 1.8 liter engine. Additionally, the Matrix is an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle II (ULEV II) that is equipped with an All Wheel Drive System with active torque control.
Safety
In keeping with the high safety standards touted by Toyota, the Matrix is fitted with driver and front passenger airbags that absorb impact and protect occupants in the event of an accident, and an Active Braking System that gives the driver ultimate control of the car during hard-to-break situations.
Interior
The Matrix's interior is large enough to carry items that are eight feet long. Also, the passenger seats fold flat to reveal more space if you ever need it. The roomy rear is perfect for carrying many passengers. The durable plastic load floor also allows for carriage of various items such as bikes and skates.
Technology isn't far from the Matrix's interior, and here's why:
1. Telescopic sport steering wheel with metallic accents, audio, Bluetooth and hands-free controls. This is optional on the Matrix but worth every penny, giving you convenient control of the car's audio system.
2. Optitron instrumentation with speedometer, tachometer, coolant temperature and speed gauges.
3. LCD display detailing outside temperature, shift position and warning messages.
4. AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback with six speakers, auxiliary jack and sound leveling.
Drive and Handling
The torque from the 2.4 liter engine makes for a smooth ride, and the acceleration is sufficient enough to get you to your desired destination in good time. Additionally, the Matrix is predictable and balanced on the road, and feels solid when it comes to steering wheel control.
There are a number of available trims, and some of them include a bigger capacity engine, Sirius XM Satellite radio, overhead console with map lamps, sunglasses storage and moon roof controls among others. The Toyota Matrix starts at $18,845 and gives you the perfect mix of reliability, power, fuel efficiency and style to make your morning commute a joy every day.
