Explosions, cars dropping from the sky, alien invasions... Not something you normally would associate with the Acura RDX, but if you have seen the recent Acura commercial for the new Avengers movie you know exactly what I'm talking about. Acura is marketing for a whole new audience, an audience of action loving technology-savvy men.
Acura's recent marketing campaigns have put them right in the middle of some of the largest action movie releases the last few years. A partnership seems to have emerged between the Acura brand and Marvel Entertainment. The brand's appearance in The Avengers isn't the first time Acura has appeared on the big screen. Acura was also the official brand of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the movie THOR, as well as making an appearance in Captain America. This new marketing campaign has to have cost Acura a pretty penny, but they are not only getting the cars on the big screen, they are doing huge theme based campaigns for each vehicle. The most recent campaign for The Avengers is spotlighting the Acura RDX as the newest super hero vehicle.
Although it's a bit far fetched to think a super hero would be driving the new Acura Crossover, there have been a lot of enhancements made to the new model to make it much more desirable to a trendy young generation. They actually made it larger to allow for more cargo space and increased the overall interior size, making it feel far more spacious than before. Along with the increase of size they redesigned the exterior to make it sleek and modern looking even down to the new Acura rims.
The new RDX didn't just get a face-lift and new rims; they did an upgrade under the hood as well. They upgraded from the turbocharged 4-cylinder to the V6, and although they did lose a bit of horsepower in the change, reviewers still say it drives smoother than the older model. The V6 also offers better fuel management through Acura's "Variable Cylinder Management" making the new RDX top of its class for mileage.
The new 2013 release of the Acura RDX marks another step in the company's push for a more performance-based market. The new high-tech packages offered for the RDX include everything from Pandora Radio to built in Bluetooth to appeal to young and modern consumer. There is no doubt that Acura will be drawing in a whole new generation of drivers to their action packed luxury brand.
